Trade Stand Attendance and Award
Following on from our last blog about setting up for the PATS trade show, I thought that I would put together another blog which provided information on how we got on at the Trade Show and to also celebrate our joy at winning an award for our products.
The show went well, the changes such as a collapsible sack barrow and easy set up display were a real improvement on the last trade show at GLEE 2017 and made constructing the stand relatively straight forward.
One thing I have learned is that when you plan out the stand on paper and in your office, you nearly always end up changing this when it comes to the final build in situ. We did exactly that again this time despite plenty of floor planning beforehand. Ultimately, the positioning of product and marketing materials is very dependent upon where people will be walking past and sometimes you can make it too clinical during the planning stage.
Before leaving for the show, we did quite a bit of social media marketing and emailing to promote our presence and this started to pay dividends before we even got there! We had 2 enquiries back from local businesses in the office during the build day!
During the show we made several interesting contacts, people came to see us for a range of reasons; some due to the Norfolk connection, some as they were interested in the disability elements and others as they had an interest in the products.
We had entered our 2 animal houses into the new product showcase in an effort to raise awareness of who we are and in the vague hope of winning something! Sure enough, mid-way through the first morning we had the pleasure of being visited by the judges and being told that the medium house had actually won the award for the best New Product in the Small Animal category! We were of course absolutely thrilled and went upstairs to the showcase lounge to officially receive our award.
This, of course, took the trade show onto another level by awarding our business for the development of our product. We were presented with a framed certificate, in glass, as our award.
Many useful contacts were made which we continue to follow up, but the main work has been the promotion of our award! We received a document from PATS stating exactly how we could go about doing this which was very helpful. As such our website now has new photographs of the product with the award; we have a new email footer, a logo on our letterhead and have listed this product as ‘Award Winning’ within our business profile.
Well worth going and of course we will be at GLEE in Birmingham in September and PATS in Telford at the end of September. We should be pros at this trade show thing by then!
