It was Purple Tuesday on 12th November! What is that I hear you ask?
It’s a day to celebrate our disabled community and what as a group this community can contribute to your business, as well as how your business might be able to support or sell to the disabled community. Working together.

ers often get caught up on the potential legal aspects of employing people with disabilities, the time that they might take off for appointments and sickness etc, but there are just so many benefits too –
- Staff which are loyal and really appreciate their employment and the support that you give.
- Reliability – we have really low sickness absence as a team. Yes, we have had some long term sickness just recently, but in 29 years here at Norfolk Industries this has not happened before to this extent.
- A more rounded and accepting staff team. Working with people with disabilities provides more understanding of others and their strengths and weaknesses within your staff team.
- A business feel good factor! It really is a good thing for businesses to employ people with disabilities and knowing that you are contributing to this community.
- A wider outlook on life and business. Disabled people can give you better insights into this community and how your business might be able to expand your product or service to assist more target markets.
There’s a great questionnaire which you can share with your work colleagues or use in teams meetings to raise awareness of this.
