Pet products with a conscience – think workability, not disability!

Decision Making

Over the last 10 days, we have been shortlisting and interviewing for a new Senior Operative for our factory.

We have worked through 151 applicants for just one post, eliminating these down to just 10 people to offer interviews.  We ended up actually interviewing 4 people and offered the post to our chosen candidate who immediately accepted!

Making these decisions is a really difficult process as you are micro analysing people as to how they will be able to do physically the job, fit in with the team and our range of disabilities, manage their workload, communicate with everyone and how productive and self motivated they will be!

Getting it wrong creates real problems across the business, friction in the team, disruption to output, time spent in meetings etc, etc, so getting it right is a massive responsibility.

We do involve as many people as we can during the interview processes to gain their feedback in an effort to make the right decision for everyone and so we are now looking forward to getting our chosen candidate on board with us in the coming weeks and starting their journey with their new work family.
